Take a look at Symphony W160, its specification and price

Is Symphony still relevant? Yes it is. Although we guess in smartphone market, they might soon lose their marketshare to their rival Walton because of almost no development support, the company is still holding the largest marketshare in Bangladesh when it comes to imported phones.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at what Symphony has been marketing lately for. Called Symphony W160, this new phone comes at a price of BDT 13,590. The following is what the phone has under the hood.

Symphony W160 sports a 5-inch IPS display at the resolution of 720p HD. It powers on a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM — which is good — and 4 GB ROM. For graphics processing, it features a Mali-400 GPU.

The 3G-enabled Symphony W160 comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the back and 5-megapixel camera on the front. The back camera supports video-recording, though we don’t know yet at what resolution, and has an LED flash.

The phone is backed by a 2,000 mAh capacity battery. It has almost all the usual sensors and stuff that you might be using: GPS, Proximity sensor, Light sensor, Accelerometer sensor, etc.

However, unlike most other phones, Symphony W160 requires a micro SIM. That also makes us think that this is not a dual-SIM supported phone. We will try to confirm whether this SIM supports dual-SIM and uncut SIM cards. We’ll update this post when we know more.

Symphony W160 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Will this be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or 4.4 KitKat? We never know. Symphony isn’t as enthusiastic as Walton when it comes to releasing updated firmware for their phones. But we will definitely keep our eyes on for any updates regarding this.

Since this is a basic specifications and price detailed post, we can’t know for sure how well this phone performs. We will have to do a hands-on review — the segment Android Kothon is famous for — before we can say for sure. But judging by the price of BDT 13,590 and the specifications detailed above, what do you think of Symphony W160? Is it a good purchase? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
