Walton introduces Walton Primo N (not N1): Specifications and Price

walton primo n

Walton has been quite aggressive in introducing new smartphones running Android operating system ever since its very first phone — Walton Primo — proved to be a huge success. At many price points, Walton hasn’t been shy of coming up with phones that offer significantly larger display. If ‘large phone’ is your thing, and if ‘quad-core’ makes you want it, then today’s Walton Primo N should interest you.

In an announcement, Walton has made its newest device Walton Primo N, a sequel to its previous successful Walton Primo N1 and NX, available in Dhaka starting today and across the country in the coming days. The phone has a terrific set of features that might intrigue you enough to buy it. Let’s take a look at what this new phone packs inside.

Specifications

Walton Primo N is a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. We still don’t know what type of processor it is, but it has a PowerVR SGX544 GPU along with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal memory.

The display is a 5.5-inch, slightly bigger than Walton Primo N1, and packs a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, which is kind of a bummer. It has a rear camera of 5 megapixel with autofocus capability and a VGA front camera with video-recording capability. The rear camera has a built-in flash in case you need some lighting in low-light photography.

Walton Primo N packs all the usual tidbits such as 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, Accelerometer 3D sensor, Proximity sensor, Light sensor, etc. In addition to all that, it supports Wireless Display Sharing. To power all that, Walton Primo N sports a 2250 mAh battery which might not just be good enough for a 5.5-inch device (Walton Primo N1 is a smaller display yet packed a 3,000 mAh battery, which used to be a unique selling point for the device.).

On top of everything, Walton Primo N runs on Android 4.2.1. We still don’t know whether it will receive an update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or skip to 4.4 KitKat, but given the track record of Walton’s previous phone, it’s pretty much a safe bet to believe so.

Walton Primo N Price

Walton Primo N, according to the company’s official fan page on Facebook. goes on sale today in Dhaka and in the coming weeks in other parts of the country. The phone is priced at BDT 12,190 and comes with a one-year warranty. The company usually packs its every smartphone with a 4GB microSD memory card, but we’re not sure if that’s available with this phone.

Walton Primo N does sound a good phone to get, but we can’t jump into conclusions without actually seeing the phone for ourselves and running some tests. For example, we don’t know details about the processor as well as the technology used in its display. But judging from the specifications, you might consider whether 1GB RAM is going to cut it and if the display resolution is enough for a 5.5-inch display. However, given the price, which is significantly lower than that of Walton Primo N1, we might as well say that it’s a good deal.
