Cyanogen Inc. working with unnamed, new hardware partner for its next phone

Famous custom ROM maker CyanogenMod, which has recently turned into Cyanogen Inc. with a large chunk of cash, is preparing itself with a new hardware partner. An anonymous source told Android Police that the next Android device equipped with Cyanogen will not be any OEM that we’ve ever heard of.

The new manufacturing company will equip their new device not only with Cyanogen but also a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AC chipset. And the phone will not be a phablet unlike Galaxy Note 3 or CM’s first official device, Oppo N1.

It’s worth noting that Oppo’s Vice President Pete Lau resigned from the company and rumors suggest that Lau and Cyanogen Inc. are working hand-to-hand to bring up the new device under a completely new manufacturing name.

However, since nothing is official yet, we just have to keep our eyes open and wait for whatever Cyanogen Inc. is preparing for us.

Would you ditch “pure Android” in favor of a CM-run Android phone? Let us know why or why not.
