Popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, which has seen great success in Indian smartphone market, has just sent out invites to what the company says will be a global Mi phone premiere. The event is set to take place in New Delhi on April 23.

The company has not mentioned anything more than what is already printed on its invitation letter. It simply reads, “i Is Coming”. Speculations are already swirling the web that the Chinese giant is preparing another mid-range smartphone that will soon be available all over the globe.

Although Xiaomi fans will love for the event to be the launching program of Xiaomi Mi5 or Mi Note, tech journalists have ruled out that possibility as the company has only recently launched its current flagship smartphone, Mi4.

After China, Xiaomi has already made quite a large fan base in one of the Asia’s largest emerging smartphone markets. Although the company does not sell its smartphones in brick-and-mortar stores, which does not seem to have any affect at all on its sales, it has paired up with even more online retailer stores so that more customers can buy their smartphones.

Previously, Xiaomi’s smartphones were only available from Flipkart, one of the country’s most popular e-commerce website. In recent times, the Chinese giant has expanded to Snapdeal, Amazon, Airtel and The Mobile Store to reach even more people who want to buy Xiaomi phons.

Xiaomi’s push to India’s ever-growing market does not end there. The company is planning to have its own plants in the country so that it can retail its smartphones from its own site in India.

What Xiaomi has under its wraps for April 23 can only be revealed by waiting until the day — or hoping that someone leaks online what it is. But by the looks of the event, supported by the fact that Xiaomi’s CEO and founder Lei Jun will attend the launch program, along with VP International Hugo Berra, one can make an educated guess that Xiaomi is launching something big.

What could it be? Make a guess and sound off in the comments.
