Lava in India has announced two new variants of its Iris X1 smartphone called ‘Lava Iris X1 Grand’ and ‘Lava Iris X1 Mini’. The new smartphones run on Android KitKat version and the X1 Grand is said to receive update to Android Lollipop soon.
Let’s take a quick look at the hardware specifications of the two phones Lava recently announced.
Lava Iris X1 Grand
Lava Iris X1 Grand is the bigger, better and pricier of the two phones the company just introduced. With 5-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) resolution IPS display, the new phone has quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6582M processor and 1 GB of RAM.
The phone has 8 MP camera on the back that has dual-LED and BSI II sensor. It’s capable of shooting full HD videos. There is a 2 MP front-facing camera for selfie fans. Built-in storage is 8 GB which can be expanded with a microSD memory card.
The phone packs a 2200mAh capacity battery. Lava said the phone will hit the stores around the first week of February 2015 and will cost Rs. 7,326.
Lava Iris X1 Mini
Lava Iris X1 Mini will cater to those who are in the market for a low-cost Android phone that doesn’t have too low hardware. With a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) resolution IPS display, this phone packs 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with only 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of built-in storage.
On the back of the phone there is a 5 MP PureCel Sensor camera with LED flash. The front side of the camera has a not-so-good 0.3 MP camera. The phone is backed by a 1750 mAh capacity battery.
Lava Iris X1 Mini comes with Android KitKat out of the box. But the company didn’t say whether it will receive update to Lollipop in the future. This too will hit the market around the first week of February and will cost Rs. 4,348.
Notably, Lava Iris X1 was launched in May 2014. The company said that it received huge response from the users and therefore launching two new variants of the phone. While the Lava Iris X1 Grand seems like a good phone to go with, it remains to be seen how the market reacts to the smaller brother X1 Mini with less-than-adequate hardware specifications.
