If you are familiar with MIUI, you surely know about Xiaomi. The company started its journey in August 2010, with a unique, elegant and refined firmware for Android, called MIUI. In the last few years, Xiaomi also started selling smart phones with MIUI, and the firmware proved to be one of the most visually stunning and practical OS for Android out there, and Xiaomi became China\u2019s biggest smart phone producer. Xiaomi phones are great. They have high-end build quality along with top of the line specifications. It was only matter of time for Xiaomi to enter the Tablet PC market, and what an entry it is!

Xiaomi\u2019s first Tablet PC, the Mi Pad 7.9 comes with Nvidia\u2019s latest and much talked-about Tegra K1. True geeks and android addicts know what makes Tegra K1 special. First announced at Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas, the Tegra K1’s GPU is based on Nvidia\u2019s popular desktop PC GPU technology called Kepler. Although it does not literally mean a desktop GPU integrated into a Mobile GPU, however, it could be referred to as a mini version of Kepler GPUs made for smart devices. The pocket rocket houses 192 CUDA cores, which is a new benchmark for the smart device industry. In addition to this, the processor is quad-core, with Cortex A15 cores running at 2.2GHz and also 2 GB of RAM capacity. The mighty specs has allowed the Xiaomi Mi Pad to break Antutu Benchmark score record and now sits on the top of its leader board.<\/p>\n
Coming on to the screen and design, the Xiaomi Mi Pad has a 7.9 inch display with 1536 x 2048 resolution (324 ppi pixel density). Xiaomi has showed off various colors for the back in its launch video, however, many might not survive in final production stage. From the initial pictures and videos, the device looks thin and well designed enough to provide a good experience. Xiaomi is known to provide good build quality, and we hope it will be same for the Mi Pad as well.<\/p>\n

The Mi Pad 7.9 16 GB is priced at $240 and $270 for 64 GB, (excluding taxes and shipping) which is quite unbelievable considering the specification. The device of this caliber might have been easily $400 and above. This makes one think, what Xiaomi had to do to make it cheap. Whether there is a catch or not, only time will tell, but personally I believe that Xiaomi wants to compete fiercely with Google Nexus tablets, Samsung Galaxy Tabs and of course Apple iPads with better specs and price. Many people are even stating that the MiPad looks too much like an iPad and is a total rip off from Apple.<\/p>\n
Rip off or not, the Xiaomi Mi Pad has a great specification with an even greater price tag. Moreover, with a refined OS like MIUI, I don\u2019t see any reason not to crave for Xiaomi\u2019s Mi Pad 7.9.<\/p>\n
