Samsung today at an event has unveiled the new Galaxy Note 4. The company has also unveiled a curved screen Galaxy Note Edge and a virtual reality headset called Gear VR.
But first, let us take a look at what’s under the hood of the next-generation of Samsung’s flagship phablet series.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 retains the same screen size like its predecessor at 4.7-inch. But it borrows a few feature from the company’s current flagship device, Samsung Galaxy S5. Some of those features include Fingerprint Scanner and Quad HD Super AMOLED display (at 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution). The Note 4 is also dust and water-resistant.
On the camera end, the Galaxy Note 4 will feature a 16 MP camera on the back and a 3.7 MP camera on the front. The back camera has 8X digital zoom and improved light sensor while the front camera has a wide-angle feature allowing the user to take panorama from 90 to 120 degrees.
Under the hood Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a quad-core and octa-core processor. What processor you get will depend on where in the world you are. It has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage in addition to a microSD card slot. The battery capacity is 3,220 mAh that has a special feature charge up to 50% from 0% in just 30 minutes.
What it doesn’t have, though, is a USB 3.0 port. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has USB 3.0 port, but the Note 4 has USB 2.0.
On the software end, the Galaxy Note 4 will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat on top of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. However, you will be happy to know that the interface of Note 4 borrowed a few features from the upcoming version of Android, Android L. The Galaxy Note 4 also looks great because of the metal frame around it. This is the new approach to design Samsung has taken with Galaxy Alpha phone announced a while ago.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with S-Pen and Health apps along with a lot of improved features and new additions. It will be available in an array of colors: Frosted White, Charcoal Black, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink. Price and availability also vary depending on the region. But it’s expected to launch in October.
