walton primo v1

Walton has just released an octa-core processor Android phone, Walton Primo V1, that goes on sale today across the country. The new phone, that Walton says is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat, sports an ultra-sharp IPS 2 display and 13 MP camera on the back. It also comes with some great features that will definitely blow the minds of its potential customers.

Priced at BDT 22,990, will Walton Primo V1 truly meet all your smartphone needs? Let’s check the specifications of this phone and make a rough guess (because this isn’t a hands-on review; we’ll do that later where we’ll go in-depth with the phone).

Walton Primo V1 basic configuration

Let’s get the basics first. Walton Primo V1 is a 5-inch full HD display with IPS 2 and OGS (One Glass Solution) display technology. Its protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, it has a powerful 1.7 GHz octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage which is expandable to up to 64 GB with a microSD memory card. For gaming and other graphics processing, the Walton Primo V1 packs a powerful Mali 450 GPU.

Like almost all other Walton Primo Android phones, Primo V1 has two SIM card slots. The twist here is: both SIM slots support 3G network. That means regardless of which slot your 3G-enabled SIM card is, you can always enjoy 3G network with your Walton Primo V1. And the phone comes with Android Jelly Bean version. But Walton says it’s upgradable to 4.4 KitKat, so buyers might soon be able to upgrade the phone to Android’s latest version.

Camera

Walton has been paying great attention to how the cameras are on its phone. Not just for the selfie craze these days, but also for people who are hungry for a truly great mobile phone camera, Walton packs cameras with new technologies. As for Walton Primo V1, it sports a 13 MP camera on the back that has autofocus feature, BSI sensor, and is an Omnivision technology. The back camera also has a flash light. So you can capture video at full HD 1080p resolution in low light as well.

For the front side, Primo V1 has a 5 MP camera which is also BSI.

Sensors and others

Walton Primo V1 has more sensors than you probably need. It packs Gyroscope, Gravity, Accelerometer, Rotation, Proximity, Magnetic Field, Light, and more.

The phone also has Bluetooth v4.0 for fast bluetooth data transfer, microUSB v 2.0 and OTG support. Wireless Display Sharing, like most other Walton Primo phones, is also available in Primo V1.

Walton specifies a few “special features” that Walton Primo V1 comes with. According to the official fanpage of the company, the special features that Primo V1 has are: Sleep mode gestures, Smart Intelligence (Flip mute, Glove mode, Smart ring), and Clear Motion video technology.

To power all that makes Walton Primo V1, the device comes with a battery of 2200 mAh, which is less than what we’d like to have. So if you want to take advantage of all the features that Walton Primo V1 comes with, you might run out of battery power too often.
