Samsung to release Galaxy Beam 2 with built-in Projector

Galaxy Beam 2

Samsung is preparing a second edition of its Galaxy Beam smartphone, now called Galaxy Beam 2, for Chinese market. Sources say that Samsung is planning to release it in the Chinese market through China Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy Beam 2, model no. Samsung SM-G3858, will be powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor (we still don’t know who the manufacturer will be this time), 1 GB RAM and a screen size of 4.66-inch with 800×480 pixels resolution.

Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 will sport a 5-megapixel camera and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. However, the one feature that sets it apart from other similar smartphones is the built-in projector that you will be able to use to project to an external screen at a resolution of WVGA, which makes us wonder, although Samsung claims it’ll be a professional-grade mini-projector, it won’t be that much professional after all.

One last thing that you might be disappointed with is the battery capacity. Reportedly, the Galaxy Beam 2 will come with a battery of 2600 mAh. So if you want to use the built-in projector too often, you’ll need to buy an external battery pack or power bank.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy Beam 2, primarily coming to China, is yet unknown. Whether or not this phone will hit other markets like the United States and European countries is still unknown. But we’ll keep you posted on any updates about this new phone.

Do you think the built-in projector, powered by a mere 2600 mAh battery, is worth it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
