Walton has never been shy to introduce high-end smartphones at a relatively handsome price. The company made it possible to change the mindset of the local consumers to pay more for brands that aren’t internationally available but only marketed in Bangladesh.

The company has just announced another high-end smartphone — at least by judging at the price point for a local brand — called Walton Primo RX. Let’s take a look at what’s beneath it from a specifications point of view.

Specifications

walton primo RXWalton Primo RX sports a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. We’re yet to find out what processor that is. The phone has a PowerVR SGX 544MP for all your graphics processing needs and a 1 GB RAM to support it. The phone has a surprising 16 GB of internal storage and is undoubtedly capable of going all the way up to 32 GB with a microSD card.

The phone has an IPS HD display. At 5-inch, the display resolution is 1280 x 720 HD, but not full HD. And it enjoys a 2nd generation Corning Gorilla Glass.

What’s more interesting about this phone is that it packs a 13-megapixel camera with a CMOS sensor and a 2-megapixel front camera, both of which have Backside Illumination technology. The back camera has an onboard flash and is capable of shooting videos in full HD resolution.

Walton Primo RX has WiFi, assisted-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, Wireless Display Sharing, Accelerometer 3D sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor and all the usual tidbits.

However, two things that are not so cool about Walton Primo RX are its battery capacity, which is only 2,000 mAh, and its operating system, which is Android 4.2.2. Now that Android 4.4 KitKat is out, it’s an understandable expectation for new phones to come out with at least Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Walton Primo RX Price

Walton Primo RX has a price of BDT 17,690. The phone goes on sale in Dhaka today and in other parts of the country from tomorrow. The phone comes with usual one-year warranty and all, but you might want to consider that for a phone like this, the battery is a little too small. And if the price sounds too expensive for you, and you’re looking for a new phone at a relatively lower price, you might also check out Walton Primo N (not N1) which goes on sale today as well.
